New York, New York, July 26, 2011 – International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE: IFF ) announced that IFF Senior Perfumer Loc Dong has created a limited edition fragrance, Black Rider, to benefit The Watermill Center at Voluptuous Panic: The 18th Annual Watermill Summer Benefit on July 30, 2011.

As part of its mission, IFF fosters a culture of innovation. IFF participates in the Watermill benefit event because it supports the collaboration of visual and olfactive arts. Such collaboration is a critical component of the inspiration that drives IFF 's perfumers to continuously reach new levels of creativity.

Black Rider was created by Loc Dong for Watermill's founder and visual artist Robert Wilson's upcoming 70th birthday. Seventy bottles of Black Rider will be auctioned at Voluptuous Panic. Black Rider, named after a Wilson theatrical production by the same name, marks the second collaboration between Watermill and IFF .

IFF has participated two years in a row in the Watermill International Summer Program. In 2010, Loc Dong spent two weeks as an artist in residence in the Program. IFF Perfumer Celine Barel is participating as an artist in residence in the 2011 Program.

“I am honored to be chosen to acknowledge Robert Wilson on the special occasion of his 70 th birthday,” said Loc Dong, IFF Senior Perfumer. “Black Rider is a celebration in scent of Robert's extraordinary artistic career, as well as his dedication to helping artists from all over the world develop and explore their passions.”

“This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend time with such a wealth of artistic talent sequestered together for the sole purpose of pushing creative boundaries in a nurturing environment,” said IFF Perfumer Celine Barel. “I am excited to take this inspiration back to the lab with me to create exciting new fragrances for our customers.”

"I am quite excited to be the inspiration of a scent,” said Robert Wilson. “It has been a true privilege to work with IFF, Loc Dong and their fantastic team. I always thought that scent is part of the artistic family of music, light, image, architecture."

The Watermill Center, in Water Mill, NY, will once again bring together the worlds of theater, art, fashion, design, and society with Benefit artists and Watermill International Summer Program participants from more than 30 different countries to create six acres of installations and performances throughout the Watermill grounds. It will be a true festival of the arts and performance. Voluptuous Panic will raise funds to benefit Watermill and its mission to provide a unique environment for young and emerging artists to explore new ideas and foster their career development.

Beginning at 6:00 pm , the evening will include cocktails, a silent auction, performances, art installations, dinner, dancing and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Simon de Pury, Chairman, Phillips de Pury & Company. The evening will end with the guests dancing under the stars in the auction tent. This year's silent and live auction will include more than 75 lots from emerging and established artists.

About Black Rider the Fragrance

Black Rider is a progressive abstract form through the medium of smell. It is a purist approach to perfumery with a very minimalist yet solid structure. Black Rider has seven carefully chosen secret ingredients in the formula, one for each decade of Robert Wilson's life journey. The life force of the fragrance is a vibrant woody marine aura that triggers an immediate emotion.

About Loc Dong

Born in Saigon , Dong's earliest fragrance memories involve following around his grandfather and smelling the many fragrant plants he used in his herbalist practice. Dong finds inspiration for his perfume creations everywhere he goes, finding rich cultural references from his life in Asia , Europe , and the U.S. A perfumer for 18 years, Dong has been with IFF since 2002 and has created fragrances for an exclusive list of internationally renowned design houses and fragrance companies, including Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Versace, and Aramis & Designer Fragrances.

About Celine Barel

As a child, Celine dreamed and created olfactive stories, pulling inspiration from her early days in Morocco and her native French Riviera. She was also nourished by the many African tribal tales told by her grandmother. After completing her marketing studies, and interning at luxury companies such as Chanel, Christian Dior Parfums and Louis Vuitton, Celine embarked on a sensorial journey catapulting her into the world of her early fantasies by joining IFF in 2001 to train as a perfumer. As a commercially and artistically successful perfumer, some of her notable creations are Coach Poppy, Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise, Hugo Boss Just Different and Lancome Aroma Blue. Celine also was a key contributor to Headspace: A Symposium on Scent as Design, a collaboration with the MoMA and Parsons.
