IFF Sensory Perception(TM) Technology Named Technological Breakthrough of the Year
NEW YORK, May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE: IFF) ("IFF" or "the Company") recently captured the 2005 FiFi(R) Award, the highest honor in the fragrance industry, for "Technological Breakthrough of the Year" with its unique Sensory Perception(TM) technology.
Sensory Perception technology is a microencapsulation delivery system for textiles that allows fragrance or active ingredients, such as aloe vera or vitamin E, to be released from clothing, sheets, or other textiles over a period of time. The technology opens up an exciting new area of business for the fragrance industry -- the textile market -- and a world of possibilities for consumers.

Sensory Perception technology binds microscopic capsules of fragrance or beneficial active ingredients onto textiles, such as clothing, linens, carpets and drapes, during manufacture. Capsules will only break through normal wear or use-releasing their contents gradually. Textiles treated with Sensory Perception technology retain their benefits over a long period of time and through multiple washes.
The FiFi Awards are presented each year by the Fragrance Foundation, a non-profit, educational arm of the international fragrance industry, which devotes its energies to creating an atmosphere of understanding and appreciation of the benefits of and pleasures in fragrance.
