IFF Perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou Wins 2010 Rising Star Award
Fashion Group International’s 13th annual rising star awards luncheon celebrates innovation, creativity, and accomplishments in eight beauty, fashion, and design fields.
NEW YORK, January 27, 2010 – International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE: IFF) congratulates IFF perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou on being named 2010 “Rising Star” for the Beauty / Fragrance Corporate category at Fashion Group International’s 13th annual rising star awards luncheon.
The prestigious event, held this year on January 22, 2010 in Manhattan at Cipriani 42nd St., honors outstanding individuals for their innovation, creativity, and accomplishments. Keynote speaker Nina Garcia, Fashion Director at Marie Claire and judge for television’s Project Runway, offered the 2010 nominees a few words of advice stating, “The ones most self assured, most focused, are the ones who make it. This is not a time to play it safe. Play it smart.”
Juliette Karagueuzoglou was only 13 years old when she first thought about becoming a perfumer as a profession. After receiving her scientific baccalaureate and a degree in chemistry, Juliette passed the Institut Supérieur International du Parfum et Cosmétique (ISIPCA) entrance exam. While a student at ISIPCA, her course was combined with two year's work experience at Expressions Parfumées in Grasse, France.
At the end of her studies she joined IFF in March 2002. After one year as assistant perfumer and three years of training with the top IFF perfumers in Paris, Juliette joined the IFF perfume school in January 2006 sharing her time between the Grasse, France and New York schools. She then returned to Paris, where she is currently based, and became junior perfumer in July 2007.
Ms. Karagueuzoglou was presented her rising star award by Jane Larkworthy, Beauty Director at W magazine.
