IFF Adds To Caplock™ Production Capability In The Uk

HAVERHILL, UK, APRIL 7, 2009 – International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE:IFF) today announced the completion of a new CapLock™ production line at its European Center of Excellence for Flavor Delivery Systems and Encapsulation in Haverhill, UK. The addition of IFF’s advanced flavor encapsulation and delivery system here builds upon the company’s prior investment in a CapLock production line in the same facility.

CapLock has long been recognized as the delivery system of choice for encapsulating flavors in products ranging from instant tea powders to tea leaves, from instant beverage powders to dry savory mixes, from confectionery products to chewing gum, and from baked goods to other products requiring shelf-life stability over extended periods.

According to Jesse Wolff, Global Vice President, Creation, Application and Innovation –Flavors, “IFF uses various delivery and encapsulation technologies to protect flavors that must perform in extended shelf life or rigorous processing conditions. Technologies such as CapLock ensure that flavors are at their peak profile when released to deliver consumer delight every time. The additional production capabilities at the Haverhill site give customers greater access to the range of flavor delivery solutions, an optimal supply chain, and the ability to fully participate in the product development process.”

IFF celebrated the opening of the new production line with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony in April. This expanded capability is part of a global effort to provide state-of-the-art product solutions to our customers, and follows the opening of new creative centers in Shanghai, China and Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier this year.
